Family stability and early learning are connected.
The Family Stability Learning Link Pilot is a new two-generation initiative being developed by She By Design, Inc. to connect caregiver financial capability, family stability, parent engagement, and early-childhood learning.
The pilot is designed for Broward County families with children from birth through age seven. It will help parents strengthen household routines and financial knowledge while participating in guided literacy, mathematics, STEM, problem-solving, and play-based activities with their children.
Financial stress affects more than a household budget.
For many families, financial instability affects childcare attendance, transportation, employment, household routines, and the time parents can devote to learning activities with their children.
A missed work shift can reduce money available for rent or food. Transportation problems can interrupt childcare. Irregular work schedules can make it difficult for parents to attend school activities, even when they want to participate.
These parents do not lack commitment. They often need a coordinated system connecting household stability with their child's development.
Six connected steps across 12 months
Family Assessment
Each participating caregiver completes an initial family-stability and learning assessment.
Individualized Family Plan
A family coach helps the caregiver identify goals related to budgeting, income, transportation, childcare continuity, employment scheduling, household routines, and parent-child learning time.
Financial-Capability Education
Caregivers participate in practical sessions covering household budgeting, irregular income, emergency planning, childcare benefits, transportation costs, savings goals, and community resources.
Parent-Child Learning Activities
Each caregiver joins guided literacy, mathematics, STEM, problem-solving, and play-based activities with their child — building shared learning time into everyday household routines.
Family Stability Coaching
Ongoing coaching helps caregivers navigate transportation, childcare continuity, employment scheduling, and community resources so learning time is protected week to week.
Progress Review & Continued Support
Coaches review household stability, caregiver financial capability, parent engagement, and early-learning progress at regular intervals across the 12-month pilot.
A 12-month pilot preparing to launch
She By Design is preparing to launch this 12-month pilot and is actively seeking philanthropic support and community partners to fund and operate it. The initiative is designed to complement existing She By Design programs — scholarships, food and essentials, financial counseling, and youth enrichment — by weaving stability supports and early learning into a single coordinated experience for each family.
Help launch the Family Stability Learning Link Pilot
Philanthropic partners, funders, and community organizations are invited to help bring this two-generation initiative to Broward County families.
